Description: | Kauffmann wrote two preludes on “Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott”. They are both strong compositions, in which the greatness, reliability or ‘solidness’ (is this an English word?) of God is represented. The first one is a bold, manualiter fugue. Kauffmann suggests either a small registration or ‘das volle Werk’. I choose the latter possibility. I use the pedals for the last statement of the fugue theme in the bass voice. Kauffmann only indicates ‘Ped.’ for the last two bass notes.
Registration:
Hw: Praestant 16′, Octaaf 8′, Octaaf 4′, Quintpraestant 3′, Woudfluit 2′, Mixtuur, Trompet 16′, Trompet 8′
Ped: Praestant 16′, Octaaf 8′, Quintpraestant 6′, Octaaf 4′, Mixtuur, Bazuin 16′, Trompet 8′
