Chorale Prelude: Nun ruhen alle Wälder Uploaded by: alanr Composer: van Oortmerssen, Jacques Organ: Weigle organ evang. Stadtkirche Nagold Software: Hauptwerk IV Views: 190
This is the second of three chorale preludes by Bach on the melody "Liebster Jesu" which I'm uploading at this time.
A few days ago I uploaded the chorale itself plus BWV 706, played on the charming little Pels & van Leeuwen positif organ at Heusden from Sygsoft.
For this setting (BWV 730) and the next (BWV 731) I've moves across to the main organ in the same church (Lohman, 1824-28) as two manuals are required.
Both preludes are very slow, as dictated by the harmonies and ornamentation. Every note - right down to the last semiquaver and semiquaver rest - carries weight. It's especially important to ensure that a note tied across a barline onto the first semiquaver beat of the new bar must not disappear. These momentary dissonances must be heard as they contribute significantly to the harmonic rhythm.
