Composer: Howells, Herbert

Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Modern
Description:
The "Siciliano for a High Ceremony" was "written especially for Miss Jane McNeill, and first performed at her Marriage to the Earl of Dalkeith at St. Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, on 10 January 1953".

Published by Novello in 1957, this piece shows Herbert Howells (1892-1983) at his mystical and ceremonial best. It shows his unique gift for combining modern harmonies and colors with the rich overtones of music from the Tudor period.

I can't deny that this took a lot of work to get this the way I wanted. Although it doesn't sound like a Willis or a Harrison, I was very pleased with the end product, and hope you will feel the same way.

I'm going to mention something highly personal, and I hope you won't mind me doing so.

I'm supposed to have knee replacement surgery on June 18th, but will having various pre-op tests, a significant mass was discovered on my left lung. I don't have mention what this could mean...

I had a cat scan today, and will know my results on Thursday. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks to All in advance.
