Composer: Gereon Krahforst (b.1973)
Sample Producer: Lavender Audio
Sample Set: Hereford Cathedral Willis Organ
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Modern
Description:
The solemn Tuba Tune (captioned "broadly (but not too much), hymnic") by Gereon Krahforst (former organist at Paderborn Cathedral (GER), today organist at St. Louis'Cathedral, Missouri (USA)) has be composed on occasion of the new high-pressure-trumpets' installation between the steeples of Cologne Cathedral. A music book has been issued specifically for these two peerless stops.
At first, the Tuba mirabilis sounds "normal" as soprano-C.f. in Krahforst's work. However, it gets other roles later on: flourish-like insertions, a duet, as C.f. and as demiquaver-supporting voice in tenor range. Finally, the mighty Great is complemented by the Tuba to extolling magnificence, leaving nothing to be desired in terms of solemnity.
