Description: | Axel Hambraeus (1890–1983) — Meditation I (1963) for organ
Axel Hambraeus (1890–1983) was a Swedish composer, author, and minister. He served as vicar of Orsa församling from 1942–57 and was the dean of Rättvik from 1950–57. Hambraeus was very active as an author and published over 100 books, including many works of fiction for children and adults. The protagonist of his novels is often a priest or musician, especially Hans Vasenius, an autobiographical character who appeared in a number of his books. As a composer, Hambraeus wrote music for organ, choirs, and chamber ensembles, in a late romantic style.
