“Three Liturgical Pieces based on a Secular Theme” (2005) is based upon a song (“Far from Me”) from the composer’s musical theater work “Michael/Michelle.” In this work, the song is re-imagined as musical material for a suite of solo organ pieces.

American composer Richard H. LaLumondier (b. 1942) served as organist and choir director at a number of churches in the Washington, DC metro area. His catalog as a composer includes more than 100 compositions in a variety of forms, including much choral and organ music and an evening-long work of musical theater.
