Searching for old samplesets: Marcussen Moerdijk

Hi all,

In my quest to establish my own HW set-up "on a shoestring" in 2019 I have been adamant to catalogue and acquire also "older" and often 'free' samplesets - those made in the time of earlier Hauptwerk editions. Many of the early initiators and 'trailblazers' of virtual organs have left behind a clear trail on several websites, but my attempts to contact the owners of these samplesets have often been fraught with difficulties.

With the arrival of Hauptwerk V (five) a new wind could well blow through the ranks (no pun intended!) when these older samplesets are made to work together with Hauptwerk's IR Convultion Reverb.

For me, at the moment stubbornly sticking with HW4, the year 2020 is the year where I intend to train myself to make my music editing software (Studio One - comes with my Presonus 1810C audio interface) interact properly with Hauptwerk - figuring out how to make the VST Link in HW work with my music editing program and my six-channel audio production options. Once that's done, it's simple to get e.g. the Waves IR Convolution Reverb plug-in to provide the same Reverb element as "inserted" in the Hauptwerk V upgrade. It's a fun project - at least, in theory, from my armchair...

Miraculously, I have now acquired the two Australian organs sampled by Nick Appleton. See his "largely abandoned" website pages here:

http://www.appletonaudio.com/sample-sets/st-augustines-neutral-bay/

and

https://www.appletonaudio.com/sample-sets/st-stephens-penrith/

And months after trying to contact Gerben van den Akker, who sampled two Dutch organs, Daarlerveen and Marienberg, he suddenly surfaced and sent me both samplesets; it was wonderful, because for 'nostalgic reasons' these organs were important to me. See the CB pages here:

Daarlerveen:
https://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/organs/view_organ/134

Mariënberg:
https://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/organs/view_organ/199

My request to you is to ask for the next old sampleset, the Marcussen organ in Moerdijk in the Netherlands. See the CB page here:

https://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/organs/view_organ/89

I've done whatever I can to contact Ariaan Hoogendijk, but he clearly seems to have moved on to "other fields" as a sound engineer - no responses to my attempt to contact him. Even his Twitter page has not been touched since 2013.

Do you have a copy of the Moerdijk sampleset? Can you help? Can we do an "exchange" of old, no longer "seemingly useful" samplesets in this way?

The Marcussen you are looking for can be downloaded from torrent sites. This is one of many: https://www.xn--thepratebay-fcb.com/proxy/go.php?url=s/?q=marcussen%20sample%20set&page=0&orderby=99
To download the magnetic file you will need of a simple program for magnetic transfers. I use Trasmission. Once installed, take the "red horseshoe" and drag it into In Transmission which you have previously opened. Depending on the availability of the servers, it may take a few minutes or even a few days. Leave the PC on all this time without going into Stanby

Thank you - but this is absolutely a no-go zone for me: I have zero trust in the world of bit torrent sites; too risky to have all my details 'borrowed' by others - not keen on living with ongoing fears of being hacked or broken into. It's probable ignorant in the eyes of many people, but there is an army of kids out there keen to steal my identity, or even to take a sordid peek into my computer(s).

I'm looking for a simpler and common citizen's way. I often use the https://wetransfer.com/ site to send or receive files under 2GB.

RE: Searching for old samplesets: Marcussen Moerdijk

Thanks to all who replied and sent me messages. Today I've been playing the Moerdijk sampleset. It's one of the projects which could now well be classified as "homeless" - there's no "official" way of acquiring it, the website might well be there, but there's "no human" to be found.

What would we call those samplesets? I can already see another one coming: the one-keyboard sampleset of the Gottfried Silbermann organ in the Marienkirche in Rötha, Germany. By the looks of it, those scrumptious sampleset has been deleted from the sale items at Milan Digital Audio.

I just can NOT fathom why anyone would do that. And - if I'm proven right in, say, a year from now, what are the owners' rights to see of exchange this with others? Isn't this an UN-encrypted sampleset? Will this be another sampleset "to be declared homeless" in due time?

Sorry about typos >>>

"By the looks of it, this scrumptious sampleset"

"what are the owner's rights to sell or exchange this with others?"

Why do you think it's allowed to download illegal content from that kind of sites? Please remove all your posts about this!!

I don't understand why the site of this sampleset couldn't be found because a simple search in google on 'marcussen moerdijk hauptwerk' gives in the top 5 results the solution: http://www.marcussenhauptwerk.nl/

Sorry sir, rather than to launch an aggressive attack here and to add insinuations and accusations suggesting anyone here is trying to "avoid payment", PLEASE READ the thread. Your response is rather misplaced (and rather infuriating) in the light that Ariaan Hoogendijk has not shown any life-like response to me, and upon investigations, not to anyone since the year 2013.

And if you are indeed Mr Ariaan Hoogendijk, then it's great you're still around. I will send you a direct message.

For me it's not clear how you have done 'all you can do to contact me' and on the other side the website of the Marcussen set can simply be found via google with some trivial keywords 'marcussen hauptwerk moerdijk'. Please explain to me how you searched so that i will be able to optimize search results.

By the way: copyright does not depend on being able to reach the author. Then why do you find me aggressive when I read that you are specifically asked to make the sample set available? Thanks for the instant payment anyway :-)!
