Midi-equipped console for Hauptwerk - ready to go?

Hi all,

I'm considering purchasing a Galanti Praeludium II for our church to replace my hand-MIDIfied Hauptwerk console (it's been chugging along for a decade, but time for a more reliable upgrade).

The Galanti instrument in question has some sound problems, but as I would only be using it with HW, I have a couple of questions:

- first, if the console has separate MIDI channels for each console and pedalboard, and has separate MIDI In/Out, is it plug-and-play with HW? I've seen a couple references to HW "conversions" for these instruments, but I can't figure what would need converting.

- second, possibly more importantly, if there are motherboard (or whatever) issues causing the current sound generation quirks, would those problems interfere with generating MIDI data as well? I don't know nearly enough about how these digital organs accomplish the respective tasks of creating a MIDI on/off and triggering digital sounds.

Thanks very much!

There isn't enough information to allow me to help with your question. Please answer the following:
What model number is the organ you are considering?
Is the problem only on specific stops or any and all of them?
If you listen to the organ through headphones does the problem occur?
Is it located near you so that you could take your computer to it and try Hauptwerk on it?
Have you contacted Galanti to ask if their midi is proprietary?
Has the seller considered having it repaired and been given an estimate?
Would it be less expensive to repair the problems with your current console?

Answers to these questions and any other detail you can provide might help me or another user give some assistance to you.
